Pele

Acrylic on Canvas

Pele, the Brazilian footballer is considered by many to be the greatest and most accomplished football player of all time. In this portrait, he is showing off his skills by doing drills. This undoubtedly helped him score 1281 goals during 1363 total career games. Pele helped to change the way the game is played today. Representing Brazil, a country that celebrates football, he has become a national icon winning the World Cup three times (1958,1962, and 1970) with his country. To date, he is the only player to accomplish this. His country of Brazil is outlined behind him in black. The ball is a version of recently used Brazuca ball from the 2014 World Cup. Motivation for using this ball came from the idea of reuniting a legend from the past with something that they love, in the present.
